Probably should post this before i get more PMs asking about it.

No, i'm not scrapping it just bcuz Pred doesn't like it. He didn't "fuck it up" for anyone.

I just disabled it temporarily while i did a little more research on the subject... seeing what other webmasters have done and seeing if there were any other plugins that i can use in conjunction with it to help solve any of these issues.

Seems all the other webmasters have these same issues and the abuse of the system is rampant if unchecked. Some have said that they were monitoring the rep logs and discovered REP CLIQUES that formed in order for each member to systematically raise the others' REPs and NEG the ppl that weren't in their clique. (i disabled NEG REP for everyone but me bcuz i know it would be abused against the n00bs). But I didn't have to read that to know that's what would happen... whether intentional or not. And on the unintentional side of it, it is easy to imagine that sometimes if you are buddies with someone, everything they say can be funnier to you and you could end up giving them a lot more rep than someone else.

Since the avatards do 90% of the posting it is natural for them to receive most of the rep... but i don't want it to become a big circle jerk around here.

The spread system is in there by design. I need people to hand some rep out to others that don't get it that often for "encouragement". If that means you have to be conscious of how many times you've repped that day so that you can give more out to another avatard, so be it. Keep a notepad next to the computer or something. Maybe if you cant give rep right then and there you can jot down the post# and thread to come back later... it's something you're going to have to figure out for yourself.

I think the rep system is great and has really motivated people to start threads they might not otherwise have started.... people are posting more... overall people really like it by the PMs and feedback i have received and the admin stats back that up.

I'm thinking about adding the THANK YOU plugin.. it can be integrated with the REP system so even if you've hit the wall on giving rep you can thank someone for a post and it will give them 1 rep point. Also, the thank yous are a stat as well just like credits and rep. You can see how many time a person has been "thanked". I'm still thinking about this one though because i have always hated that Thank You plugin...

i hope that clears some of this up for you guys....

I like the Thank you plug in. It's a way to say thanks without posting it and cluttering up the thread. Many times I want to say thanks, but don't for that reason.

There should be a "fuck you" plugin.

i say put back the rep as is, ignore the complaints (or neg rep them), eventually they'll stop

don't care much about the thank you plugin, but if you have to time to set it up, why not try it out?
