Kentucky Teacher Accused of Having Drunken Sex with 15-year-old Former Student

A Kentucky teacher has been arrested and accused of providing a 15-year-old boy with alcohol before having sex with him last year.

Amy Hamilton, 40, turned herself into authorities on Monday. The Harrison County Prosecutor charged her with felony sexual misconduct with a minor. Hamilton, who currently teaches in Oldham County, Kentucky, was also charged with misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

In charging documents first obtained by the Louisville Courier Journal, investigators allege that Hamilton first met the teenager in 2017 when she worked as a teacher at Stuart Pepper Middle School in Meade County, Indiana.

The prosecutor’s office says that she did not immediately have a sexual relationship with the student while she was his teacher, but kept in contact with him via text message when she took a new job in Kentucky.

According to charging documents, the relationship turned sexual in March 2018.

Police allege that Hamilton provided the child with about nine beers while she drank several bottles of wine, WKYT reports.

Court documents allege the student had made sexual advances earlier in the day, but Hamilton resisted. Later, however, she allegedly led him to her bedroom where they had sex, according to the documents.

The allegations have caught her current school district by surprise.

When asked about the allegations, a representative for Oldham County Schools told WAVE 3 News, “This information is new to us, but we will take the appropriate actions to ensure the safety of our students.”

According to online arrest records, Hamilton posted the $5,000 bond and was released. Court records do not list an attorney authorized to speak on her behalf. If she’s convicted of the felony charge, she faces up to 12 years in prison.

Hamilton is scheduled to appear in court on February 19 at 9 a.m. local time, when she is expected to enter a plea.

For a 15/16 year old kid to drink 9 beers in the time it took this teacher to finish off "several" bottles of wine is incredulous. Unless he's the size of AND has the alcohol tolerance of Andre The Giant. He's be done after 5 beers and her, the first bottle of wine.

Heck no. At that age, I was taking a 12-pack of Mich Dark or Mich to weekend parties. And easily drank all 12 before heading back home at 11/12. I was 6'2" and 175lbs.

Most of the guys at the parties I went to could drink like that.

And no, I didn't drive. We were smart and had designated drivers. That was in the mid/late 80's.

Fuck, son, I grew up in the '60's. You were not a MAN unless you got blitzed and managed to drive home, then make it into school or work and brag about it the next morning. Many times I would walk in, and see a puddle of vomit outside the car door of someone I knew. Thing is - no one died. No kids got run over. No one drove on the wrong side of the highway. No one got drunk road rage and shot at anybody. Today every kid is duct taped inside a bunch of pillows with their mother hovering over them. Now we got GFI outlets, but we had two-prong outlets. If I fucked around an outlet with a butterknife, as long as I wasn't using a good knife, my parents said, let him learn. And you know why we didn't fuck our teachers? Because they all looked like this --

In my town everyone drank and drove and smoked weed. Some of us made it some didn't in fact I maybe lost 5 friends. On night I was driving came upon an accident it was my friend Mick. When I saw the car Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend" came on the radio fucking weird shit. Part of his head was stuck in the dome light and his sneakers were there he got knocked out of them. I have seen people get knocked out of shoes when they were hit by a car but not in the car. Was it stupid to drink and drive yes but it's the way it was. Yeah, Margaret Hamilton. I often use it as the picture for my ninth grade English teacher. No picture ever existed of her, and the fucking bitch didn't show an image in a mirror, either. Ex-School Nurse Admits to Sex With Teen After Trying to Bribe Him With $2,000 Car Payment

A former elementary-school nurse who tried to hush a teen she sexually abused by offering him $2,000 to pay off his car loan has admitted her guilt.

After her September 2017 arrest in Jefferson County, Missouri, 47-year-old Tina Maria Sumner was told not to have any contact with the victim or his family, reports the Jefferson County Leader and TV station KSDK.

Sumner admitted nothing at the time and was released without being charged after the teen reported on August 30, 2017, that he’d had sex with the teacher eight times since 2015 in locations that included his home, her home, and a Fox School District building, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

But three months later, according to a court record reviewed by the newspaper, the boy’s mother called Arnold police for an update and told them Sumner had sent her son a $2,000 check to pay off his car loan in exchange for dropping his allegations.

The mother gave authorities a copy of the check, according to a probable cause affidavit, reports the Leader. Call logs also showed Sumner and the victim had been in contact by phone after her arrest.

In March, the former school nurse was charged with victim tampering and having sex with a student under the age of 16, according to KSDK.

In a plea agreement Friday, Sumner pleaded guilty to one count of victim tampering and two counts of statutory rape and faces a seven-year prison term when she is sentenced, reports the Post-Dispatch.

The terms require her to register as a sex offender, her defense attorney Mark Hammer told the newspaper. But rather than immediately impose the seven-year sentence, the agreement recommends Sumner for a 120-day sex-offender program while in custody, after which she could be evaluated and return to face a judge, who could keep her jailed or release her on probation for the sex offenses.

A call by PEOPLE to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office was not immediately returned.

At the time of her arrest, Sumner already had resigned from the district, Fox C-6 communications coordinator Sam Rayburn told the Leader. She had worked for the district from 1999 to 2017, and quit after the 2016-2017 school year, he said.

Her formal sentencing is scheduled for October 25.
