Yeah, but I'd be okay with seeing him if they throw him on the November card in Portland. Makes some sense w/ his ties to the Portland area. However, that's definitely putting the cart before the horse. I'd like to see what they are proposing in terms of the settlement, so we can see if it is even really realistic.
I would LOVE to see Minotauro submit Randy, although I hate seeing Randy lose. I think that's a bad fight for Randy. I've said all along that Randy is trying to maximize his payday for retirement. If he loses to Minotauro, there is no point in a Fedor fight. As for Couture being over the hill, he's still in better condition and a better fighter than over half the "talent" out there now.
Well, odds are if he fights by the end of the year it can't be Minotauro because of Nog/Mir in December, right? Who would some other possible opponents be?

Personally, I think Noons needs to tuck in his fucking skirt and fight. Why negotiate a better contract with an organization that is widely known to be having financial difficulty. Stick by that organization for as long as you can, and if it works out, then you'll reap the benefits
Yeah, I don't mind Rogers but he sure is running his mouth a whole lot. I understand trying to promote yourself and being confident, but I think Rogers just needs to hang back, beat whoever they put him against in November and then wait his turn. If he's really a half as good fighter as he would like to make us think, he'll be able to rattle off a win or two and then destroy Kimbo, and maybe be the face of EliteXC. Then he can decide not to defend his title like NOOOOOOOOOOONS.
"Inside MMA" preview: Tito Ortiz making an announcement?
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Aug 29, 2008 at 3:15 pm ET
Tito Ortiz is on tonight's edition of "Inside MMA," and the former UFC champion and current free agent hints that he has some big news to share.
Thanks to our partnership with the weekly MMA news show, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) now has an exclusive preview of tonight's "Inside MMA" episode.
Although Ortiz doesn't spill the beans in the preview, he says he does anticipate some big fights in his future.
"It's the first time I'm a free agent in 11 years," said Ortiz, who recently fulfilled the terms of his previous UFC contract. "This is an opportunity I've got to get some of the biggest fights of my career; (they're) still ahead of me.
"I'm only 33 years old. Randy Couture started his career at 33, so the sky's the limit for me."
Joining Ortiz on tonight's "Inside MMA" panel are Strikeforce world lightweight champion Josh Thomson and HDNet Fights president Guy Mezger. Kenny Rice also returns from Beijing, China, where he was an Olympics broadcaster, and Ron Kruck has an exclusive interview with UFC 88 headliner Rashad Evans.

BloodyElbow.com Exclusive: Randy Couture Update
by Michael Rome on Aug 29, 2008 3:29 PM EDT in News
I've spoken with a lot of people about Randy Couture in the last day. Things are definitely happening.
First, I can say with 100% certainty that there are current negotiations for Randy Couture to return in November to main event, and that the current proposed opponent is Brock Lesnar. They can't get Fedor, too many issues to work out on short notice, and he has a US-only non compete with Affliction.
This will be a new contract, not a return to the old one. It will likely pay him more and give him more benefits, but it will lock him into the UFC for the long term. In exchange for signing it Zuffa would drop all breach of contract charges.
From there, things get hazy. Randy is now training full time as if he is expecting a fight soon, but he still hasn't signed anything as far as I know. As far as the details of the Lesnar fight, I don't know if it's title or non title.
