He would definately need to fight in the HW division. It is by far the weakest division and LHW is by far the strongest. Plus, at this point Dana seems to have the upper hand if Affliction is closing their pocketbook. If they make this contract happen, they say they have worked things out. Tito must realize that the UFC is really the only viable option that will last, especially after the questions surring Proelite/elitexc and the fact that Affliction may only do 3 shows.

Yeah, that's my thought. He would be by no means the best fighter in the HW division (come on, that's Frank Mir's Job) he would be a draw, would create some interesting match-ups and didn't look too bad against Machida in his last fight in the UFC. I'm not saying give him an immediate shot (or, maybe they do just that when Nog beats Mir to give him a little more mainstream fandom w/ a win over Tito). It's intersting, can definitely get some more great match ups.

Just my 2 cents, for whatever it's worth, but Tito isn't big enough to fight at heavyweight. Tito isn't a small LHW by any means, but even at his bulkiest, which is not necessarily in shape, he would be far too small to compete at HW. People who have made the transition from LHW to HW have traditionally competed at a heavier weight and then cut to a lighter weight only to go back up later (a al Randy Couture). I think it's more likely that, if Tito comes back, he and Dana squash the beef and the UFC uses him as a gatekeeper. I also think Tito will need to cut the bullshit and get with a real camp if he wants to be competetive/successful. That of course is only my 2 cents. I could very well be wrong.

You have a point here, but my main objection is that Tito will not accept the role of gatekeeper. I believe if he goes upto HW (albeit a flabby Tito) he can fight some of the smaller HW (ie Eilers, McCully, O'Brien) before having to fight a top dog. If he comes back at LHW who would he fight? Rashad Evans to avenge that draw? There are other options there, but I believe will look for a title shot that he surely does not deserve at LHW.
It will be very interesting to see how all of this plays out...Affliction/EliteXC seem to not be able to pay his asking price and the UFC will wait him out until he agrees to their terms if at all...
