First concert was real band-geek stuff: Maynard Ferguson, in maybe '82 or '83. He was great tho- I eventually saw him 5 times over the years.
First major concert was The Cure, in '86, Head on the Door tour at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA. They were great! I was in the very front for most of it, til my girlfriend kinda passed out from being squished by the crowd. I remember as a teen-aged fanboy being disappointed that Robert Smith had chopped off his hair, but the sound was fantastic.
Well I guess it would be Enrest Tubb when I was a small child, but the first concert I went to on my own, was Lollapalooza back in 96' It was sooo fuckin rad to see the R.A.M.O.N.E.S. live and in full force, it was way cool.
sans Mick Jones..on the cut the crap tour. That album SUCKED but, live they were great. We were in 8th grade. My buddies mom dropped us off. We all bought "Go Straight to Hell" T-Shirts. We all had to wear them inside out at school...
Van Halen with Rick Derringer opening back in 1978 in Wichita Falls, TX. My ears were ringing for about 3 days afterwards but it was still music to me!!
