There are two football teams in Glasgow, Celtic, who are my team and Rangers, our oldest rivals. A treble is when any one team wins the Domestic league and both cup competitions in a single season. Rangers were on course to win the treble this season, fueled in no small part by the fact that Celtic are shockingly bad this season (the Celtic manager has just been fired for poor results).
Having already won the first cup competition of the season, Rangers are also so far ahead in the league that it is almost impossible for Celtic to catch them, so effectively the league is theirs barring a monumental fuck-up on their part.
But on Wednesday night, Rangers were eliminated from the second cup competition therefore ending their hopes of a domestic treble.
'Banging on' about something is a colloquialism for constantly mentioning something, in this scenario it is used to 'wind up' or infuriate rival supporters.
So, my earlier comment was about Rangers' fans constantly taunting Celtic fans about their teams progress versus my teams uselessness, so when they were knocked out of the second cup, I was rather pleased as they were no longer in the running for the 'treble'.
EDIT: There are actually a lot of teams in Glasgow, but those are the two main ones.
