haha not just the history but an entire hard drive wipe. And not just reformat or whatever. I mean like writing zeros to the entire drive so nothing is recoverable.

Yeah, not a fan of those 3 countries. The wife is bummed too seeing as she is of Norwegian royal family decent. Would be if her granma didn't marry an English commoner and get disinherited in the process......what we do for love, ey?

Snakes are awesome tho. Some fine specimens here in South Africa

yes I know! Cape Cobras are one of my favorites. They got cool lizards in SA too.

Except this was indeed real life.....

Her great-grandmother left Norway late 1800's and landed in the town we live in (which we found out after actually moving here 9 nine years ago) via those old sailing ships. Grandma was born in a town about 45 km from here. Grew up there and then met Grandpa who was in the airforce as a signalman. (Grandpa flew into Germany in the great Berlin Airlift after WW2 as well as other sorties over Germany during the war). Grandpa was from a commoner family of England serving his time during the war. Defying her family, Grandma married grandpa in the town she grew up in and was promptly disowned by the family along with the family fortune and title to the Norwegian throne.
Grandma was also family friends of the Rex (English) and Thesen (Norwegian) families who literally tranformed this village into a town as a trade port during the late 1800's and early 1900's (mostly shipbuilding and timber industries).
Sometimes history has a rich and colourful meaning in peoples lives.

Yes there are. Cape Cobras are reknowned for being aggressive unlike the 'back fanged tree snake' (boomslang). Puff Adders account for the most human deaths in this country. Had a run-in with them a couple of times, don't know how i never ever got bit. Surreal it was, like a different time zone altogether.

Boomslang will kill you too. One killed a very famous herpetologist, Robert Mertens. They're beautiful though. Another one of my favorites. Puff adders have many live babies. Probably around 40 every clutch and they are ambush predators, so they hide and wait for prey. there's lot's of them and they are hard to see, which means more accidents. Most people probably step on them because they didn't see them. Yeah you got a lot of great reptiles in your part of the world. I hope to get there one day.

Boomslang are very shy actually, they would rather head back into the trees, just don't get between them and where they are going. Had an occassion when one dropped from the trees onto the table in the outdoor section of the restaurant. People scattered and the 'Boomy' ignored them and went about its business and then slithered off back up a tree.

Those baby Puff Adders are aggressive little fuckers. Found one in the walkway near the prep area of the restaurant and it was really keen to launch itself at anyone who came near. Problem with the one youngs is they don't know when to stop attacking and will inject venom non-stop. So then you're pretty fucked.
That hiss of the adult lying in wait is freakin bone-chilling. I went stone-cold.
