Some beautiful architecture, some of those scenes look like they could be from a movie about the end of the world where people simply disappear into thin air. Wonder if Detroit has been a producer/writers inspiration for a movie theme?

When I win the lottery I am moving to Detroit and buying me one of those classic old building to restore her to her former glory. But realistically tomorrow when the bourbon wears off I will shake my head and wonder how we can let things so magnificent go to shit like that. So sad.
Check out Johnny Knoxville in this docu that he did called Detroit Lives. They go through a lot of the sentiments being posted here, and about some people actually trying to change some of it.
The city of Detroit is the largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The "Big Three" American car manufacturers, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, have their headquarters there. Outsourcing to low-wage countries, the credit crisis and the sudden strong oil prices from 2007 led to a declining demand for typical American cars. The subsequent mass layoffs were falling house prices and a further exodus from the city of Detroit as a result. The result is that Detroit is characterized by relatively high poverty and crime. As opportunity, jobs and people have disappeared from the city, Detroit's Cass Technical High School has been left empty and abandoned.
