I keep saying I'm going to back up my d/l'ed programs to cd or dvd, but never got to it. Now I'm about one step away from BJ. I'm going to be shutting down my computer this weekend to try and save mine. My biggest problem now is that my external HD isn't working and I think it's the case. Plus to make matters worse, my hd is SATA and all my extra HDs are IDE. Going to be a long weekend.
Oh and did I mention that my DVD burner isn't working, that it will only burn CDs

Yeah. Altogether I have approx 276GB of TV Shows, about 178GB of DVD rips (in ISO format), 41GB of avi movies, and 13.7GB of music, not to mention all the other random funny videos (~4GB) and pictures and all my personal pictures.... and NONE of it is backed up.
I don't know how I don't have an ulcer.
My plan is to get a rackmount server with 3 1TB SATA drives and set up a RAID 5 config to store everything on. I've already got it all picked out and saved to a wish list on NewEgg, I just need the money; ~$1500 with 1 CPU or ~$1750 with 2 CPUs.

Hahahaha, I have over 6 TBytes, and most of it is filled, I just had a 750 GB drive crap out with over 600 GB of files on it. That I wanted, not that I don't care about.
If I don't burn on average of 10 DVD's a day, I fall behind. On weekends off I burn anywhere from 60 on a bad weekend to 200 on a good weekend.
Almost all of it is newsgroup stuff.
Most of the stuff is pics and vids of gorgeous women...
One of the guys I work with has more than 12 TBytes, he buys those 1.0TByte external cases that look like books standing on edge. he has 8 now, and is looking at buying a case of the 1.5 Tbyte drives to increase his space.
