Why does it matter if the world goes towards Islam, especially if we should be isolationist? So we should pull up all of our bases from around the world and demobilize the military as well? Lets say China wants to expand its foreign influence (as its doing) we should allow it to become as powerful as it wants and influence global markets to its benefit, right? Isolationism doesn't work, you know how I know? Because we tried it. And when we tried it, we could handle our own day-to-day needs much more than we can now. We're dependent on the world, if we aren't leading it someone else makes the rules for us.
(Btw: when I say we I mean the west, we get the lion's share of our oil from Canada, followed by Mexico, then Colombia.)
