You should be able to open a bottle of wine with a basic wine key.
The reason that stores sell so many fancy "rabbit" wine openers and other things is because people can't learn how to use a basic corkscrew. I have been to parties and was amazed that nobody could open a bottle of wine without the same opener that they have at home. I have even opened bottles of wine at dinner for my parents' friends who, by the time they are 45+, should be able to do this.
If you learn to use a basic one well, you'll never be stuck.
