i was in the Teamsters. wasn't bad. low monthly dues, great benefits, pretty high hourly.

but if it was a business owner, i would never want unions. they're the main reason big auto is going down. i read somewhere that 40% of the cost of a car is to cover employee costs. GM is the single largest health care insurer in the world.

I think they are very good in countries with developing industry to protect workers from exploitation and grant them benefits. However unions can quickly take things to far. The North American auto indusrty is a perfect example of unions going too far. It costs less for GM to repair fleets of cars that come off the line malfunctioning than to stop production to repair the defects in the production line due to the compensation due to union members.

and then filed a grievance against because you obviously didn't value their opinion as much as your own, therefore leaving them feeling inadequate.
