Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.

She was 32.

A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.

We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

UPDATE 3:11 PM ET -- Sources tell TMZ Brittany Murphy's mom discovered her unconscious in the shower. We're told when paramedics arrived, they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center -- several miles away -- and Murphy was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

We're told the LA County Coroner's is picking up Murphy's body from Cedars later today and will launch an investigation.

She weighed 90lbs and died of a cardiac arrest and at the age of 31, yea there was some kind of drug involved.......Im betting something for all of her face work that has been done.

We're told, however, despite Monjack's wishes, the L.A. County Coroner's office will perform an autopsy on Murphy. As we first reported, Murphy went into cardiac arrest this morning and could not be revived.

TMZ has also learned Britney Murphy's mother, who found Murphy unconscious in the shower and called 911, told paramedics her daughter had a history of diabetes. We have not been able to confirm if Murphy did indeed have diabetes, and if so, whether it contributed to her death.

Not to sound like a completely heartless bastard - but do life insurance policies pay out if drugs are the cause of death??
I only assume if a policy would be voided he would want little to no info coming out.

The other hand - he could be trying to protect her image, and her mother from any further harm.

There may be a good reason for no autopsy. From imdb.com:

Jewish law prohibits autopsies. Whether she was a Jew or not, her husband sounds like he was following Jewish Law.

I will tell you from personal knowledge, that if the state wants an autopsy, Jewish Law will concede to Sectarian Law, even if the deceased is a Rabbi.

Brittany Murphy was very ill in the hours before she went into cardiac arrest and died, sources tell TMZ.

We're told Murphy was taking prescription meds for flu-like symptoms she had been experiencing for several days. We're told Murphy began vomiting early Sunday morning and told family members she was feeling very ill.

Sources say various prescriptions were found in the home -- written for Brittany Murphy, husband Simon Monjack, and Brittany's mom. One source says, "There were a lot ... a lot of prescriptions in the house."

Law enforcement sources tell us Murphy collapsed in the bathroom and somehow ended up in the shower ... there was, we're told, a significant amount of vomit in the immediate area.

We're also told authorities did not find illegal drugs in the house, but Murphy was definitely taking various prescription meds.

Sources say her condition and the meds could have triggered a heart attack, but it's too early to know. An autopsy will be performed Monday or Tuesday. We reported earlier Monjack did not want an autopsy but ultimately it's the Coroner's call.

As we first reported, Brittany Murphy's mother told paramedics her daughter suffered from diabetes. We're told it was type 2 diabetes and people involved in the case doubt her condition caused her death.

she was good in clueless. it's one of my favorite movies. other than that, king of the hill, and 8 mile i can't say i've seen much of her work. it's still sad to see someone so young pass.

my mother in law died like this. massive heart attack after suffering flu=like symptoms for several days. apparently flu-like symptoms are an indicator of pending heart attack in women, just like shooting pain down the left arm in men. im betting she had a fucked up heart caused by her eating disorders, or drug addiction.

Five months after actress Brittany Murphy was found dead in her Los Angeles home, the late actresses' husband, Simon Monjack was discovered dead in the same house on Sunday night.

The Los Angeles Times reports that British screenwriter Monjack, 39, was found dead of yet-unknown causes at the home he shared with Murphy, who died in December at age 32 from what a coroner determined was a combination of pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 9:24 p.m. on Sunday for an "unspecified medical aid request," according to a fire department spokesman. After Fire Department personnel attempted to provide medical assistance to Monjack, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

TMZ reported that Murphy's mother, Sharon, who also discovered her daughter's body, was the person who found Monjack unconscious in the master bedroom and it was she who called 911 to report the medical emergency.

The site claimed that Monjack reportedly died as a result of cardiac arrest, though that has not been confirmed. A death investigation is under way. Following Murphy's death, Monjack said in an interview that he suffered from seizures and had suffered a heart attack while returning from a vacation in Puerto Rico in 2009.

Monjack was born in Hillingdon, England, on August 5, 1970, and is best known for writing and directing the little-seen 2000 movie "Two Days, Nine Lives."

In February, a coroner's report dispelled rumors that Murphy had died as a result of illegal drug abuse or excessive alcohol intake. A death investigation determined that the pattern of the elevated levels of drugs in her blood "suggest treatment of symptoms of a cold or other respiratory infection." The report found "no history of alcohol or drug abuse" and Murphy's body was "normally muscular and slim but not excessively thin."
