Hey, I used to like those guys... what was i thinking?

Is there any band that you used to like but when you hear them now you just can't stand?

I used to like Nine Inch Nails... i was never a huge fan but i listened to them a bit but now when i hear any of his songs i literally get pissed.

I dont know why i liked them. Chalk it up to the times, i guess...

MadamMeow 09-08-2009 08:49 AM

I'm not going to say I can't stand them anymore, but I used to be the BIGGEST Slipknot fan and now when they pop on my ipod I end up skipping the songs. I played them out.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of the bands that 'jumped the shark', ones that wrote classics and IMO just have gone on too long.
Any 'new' tunes by Aerosmith, AC/DC, REM & U2 are unlistenable to me.
It's a shame, because I know, for instance, REM just made a good album, but I can't get past Stipe's voice from 1990.

I confess - I originally liked Creed (I was in HS, I think). Hate me if you must.

I absolutely LOVED Fleetwood Mac when I was 16-17 and still appreciate them.....but I simply cannot bring myself to listen to them anymore.

Eagles too.

GeminiEye 09-10-2009 08:52 PM

rocker182 09-16-2009 01:30 AM

Green day was good up to the American Idiot (2004) album wtf fuck happened to them? They dress like they robbed a hot topic and there music has gone down hill its time to go back to your roots boys

Second. Especially with U2. I haven't fully enjoyed an entire U2 album since Joshua Tree, and the more poncy and pretentious they got the less I liked them.

bodger1 05-16-2010 03:38 PM

oh, god yes, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

I saw them at Leeds Festival, right before they went on their "hiatus", and god, they were awful.

about 20 mins random jamming, a few songs off Stadium Arcadium, then preceded to piss off the crowd. sod that, i went to the beer tent!

smeegs 05-17-2010 08:39 PM

I hate to say it, but I can't listen to Cypress Hill anymore. I couldn't tell you when the last time I heard one of their albums all the way through. I saw them play in 1999 at a "music fest" a local radio station put together which is about the time they started playing with instruments. TERRIBLE!!! Worse than that, the headliner at this "fest", turned out to be none other than ICP.

Stupac 07-21-2010 04:43 AM

Yeah, I used to LOVE Sublime.

d_b_99 07-24-2010 09:13 AM

I used to love Wu-Tang Clan. Now I realize they were gimmicky and the kung-fu stuff doesn't hold up compared to contemporaries like Gang Starr or others.

bigsqwill 09-10-2010 01:55 PM

It's truly hard to hear someone say Wu-Tang is gimmicky. Granted they may not have the most prose driven lyrics out there but they are far and away more lyrically gifted than 99% of these rappers from our "Boast" generation. Gangstarr does represent. RIP Guru

josehl 02-18-2011 07:47 PM

Live. Holy fuck they suck...

ForgottenOne 03-22-2011 10:45 PM

I'm ashamed to it admit it, but I liked Linkin Park when I was a kid. That was for about a year or so though. I sorely regret buying Hybrid Theory now.

seisseisseis 04-01-2011 05:18 PM

Limp Bizkit.... goddamnit.

chisinlo 04-03-2011 10:38 AM

No better examples than Aerosmith (saw them 6 times live before they lost their mojo) and Kiss (everything after the year 1988 sucks)

Jerzidevil 04-30-2011 12:55 AM

Matchbox Twenty's "Yourself or Someone Like You" was my first CD purchase waaaaaaay back in seventh grade. I just recently found that CD at work and listened to it. Not terribly bad. Linkin Park, on the other hand....

suqueboard 07-14-2011 02:24 AM

rod stewart was fantastic in the 60s and then starting recording awful music, became popular, and jumped from model to model over the next 40 yrs

i know, laugh at me for being a hater
