What was the last concert/show you went to and how was it?
I wasn't able to find a thread like this so I thought I'd go ahead and start one.
It doesn't matter if it was a music concert, play or comedian. Who was it and would you recommend someone else going to see it? I last went to see Alkaline Trio and Cursive in towson MD last week and it was unfortunately disappointing to see one of my favorite bands, Alkaline Trio, put on such an un-enthusiastic show and the all ages crowd didn't help either. Matt Skiba's voice sounded off, you could hardly even tell what song he was singing and he never moved from the one spot on the stage. But on the other hand, Cursive, who i was not that big of fan of before that, put on one hell of a good performance. The acoustics at the venue are always great and i did end up hammered, which is alway good. I wouldn't see them again, but they were on my must see list so at least that one is crossed off.. |
are we all required to post large, blurry pics as well?

It came out larger than expected and it's hard to take good pictures with a iphone in the hand of someone who gets the drunk-shakes Edit: fixed pic size for you, next time i'll try to take a picture while still sober (highly unlikely though) |
Awesome awesomeness. 4 hours of it. No opening band to stink up the place. I hope they tour again before either they or I die. |

Seen OTEP 4 times and they kick major ass
|
Saw Henry Rollins do the spoken word thing a couple weeks ago...funny, entertaining and a little bit educational.
|
it's been a few years, but Staind at Freedom Hall was outstanding. Aaron Lewis is an awesome singer.
|
Saw Alice in Chains in Feb. Not too bad of a show.
|
Saw David Gray last week. He puts on a great show. Figured the median age was around 40 or so. It was pretty funny to watch some of the older folks stand up & dance (it was very much a seated show).
Saw STS9 a week earlier. The median age on that one was probably 20. No seating...a lot of tripping. Ben Folds and DMB are up next... |

Coheed and Cambria...
I saw them in Burlington, VT this past week and they are fucking awesome in person. I have tickets to see them in Boston in May so I'm looking forward to it even more now...
They played a very good arrangement of their songs (old and new from their album releasing next month in the stores or this month on DSF) but unfortunately they didn't play "Ten Speed" or "Gravemakers and Gunslingers" |
Manchester Orchestra - FANTASTIC!
|
saw gogol bodello back in december, was pretty sweet

Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart ? is without question one of the most inventive and compelling groups in rock history, equally famed for both its virtuoso musicianship and provocative songwriting. Announced today, The Time Machine Tour is an evening with Rush, where they will perform their classics, give a taste of the future ? and for the first time ever ? feature the Moving Pictures album live in its entirety. The band is currently working on their 20th studio album with producer Nick Raskulinecz (co-producer from 2007?s Snakes & Arrows) and in addition to their classics plan to showcase a few new tunes live this summer. |

John Mellencamp and Bob Dylan. Mellencamp put on a great show - engaged the crowd, voice was strong, and a great band. Dylan on the other hand sounded like a shy sulky teenager with throat cancer. His band kicked ass, with Charlie Sexton on guitar, but Dylan didn't engage the crowd at all. Just came out, propped himself behind the keyboard, and sang one song after another. Something strange was that they brought the lights all the way down after each song. We stayed to the end, but there were people streaming out from about the fifth song in.

2 weeks ago I saw the Ataris and all there pop punk goodness at a dive bar in West Texas.
|
Roger Waters - The Wall Live, last night in San Jose. Totally worth the $70 I paid for tix, not sure it would have been if I'd gone for $600 floor seats, but it was still epic.
