Favorite Sandwich

C'mon, I know quite a few of us here are hungry bastards a.k.a. fat. We spend a lot of time in front of the computer, and a sandwich (for me) typically makes the best surfing food. So let's here 'em: What's your favorite sandwich?

I'm a big fan of Corned beef sandwiches. Hit me up with some Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese and spicy mustard on Sourdough or Rye. Shit's delicious. I think I have a full fledged soft-on just thinking about that sandwich right now. What about ya'll?

Randal Graves 05-03-2008 03:31 PM

A badass sandwhich sound alot better than the shitty broccoli, cauliflower, & chicken I had for lunch.

That's off topic though. My favorite sandwhich is probably roast beef & provolone on grilled & buttered sourdough bread. Philly cheesesteaks are also pretty badass if they're made right.

The Godfather 05-03-2008 03:35 PM

I'm not fat, just big-boneded.

My favs are a cuban done right and pastrami on anything.

effjay 05-03-2008 03:48 PM

Leroy: all those cruciferous veggies got to make your farts just something vicious, yeah? Downside to training?

The veggies are the least of my worries when it comes to gas. The protein powder & milled flax are what really mess with my stomach. I take 2-3 Gas-X pills every day which really helps.

The food I eat isn't really a downside to MMA training. I'm not a pro fighter or anything. I just do it as a hobby. It's more like eating healthy food and training are what I do in an effort to be less fat. You can't really go to the gym with a stomach full of pizza anyway, but if you did it would make gym time worthless. I don't want to come off as if I'm obsessed with fitness or anything. Look at my pictures. I'm probably 220 in those damn things. I just have to eat really well & workout all the time to stay around 180-190 which annoys the hell out of. I'm just getting back into going to the gym & eating right so hopefully I can be under 200 by the end of summer.

Nothing better than sitting down with a big ole' Peanut Butter Jelly sandwich with some sweet tea

sportster 05-03-2008 10:24 PM

I'm partial to the Reuben - Pastrami (instead of corned beef), Sauerkraut, Swiss cheese & Thousand Island on dark rye bread.

fin 05-04-2008 08:40 AM

Meatball-motherfuckin-sub with mozzerella. Real, none of that Subway shit.

Fuck Jared.

mathiaswvu 05-04-2008 11:33 AM

Pittsburgh original Primanti Bros. Loose meat, cheese, french fries, tomatoes and coleslaw mashed between slices of fresh Italian bread.

mahler12 05-04-2008 06:28 PM

That looks so delicious.

There is place in Southern California Called THE HAT. they serve the best pastrami sandwiches I have ever had pretty cheap to. Love me a pastrami sandwich. That and a good Cheese steak.

DAS 05-04-2008 09:59 PM

Cubans with Plantain Chips and Monte Cristo's with Steak Fries and Honey Mustard...

Shasturbator 05-04-2008 10:03 PM

fucking bologna and cheese, with mayo (not salad dressing)

BigMac63 05-04-2008 11:56 PM

Never met a sandwich I didn't like...

drewdog 05-05-2008 08:14 AM

Place up in Binghamton NY, spiedie and rib pit, ask for the Buffalo style chicken spiedie.

pre-cubed, marinated grilled chicken, hot sauce, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato. so messy, so good.

Mohaman Cheez 05-05-2008 10:47 PM

I gotta go with JawjaBill and DAS,nothing like a cuban made right. And a homemade breaded chicken cutlet on white with mayo salt and pepper.

effjay 05-05-2008 10:49 PM

A good Cubano is always great, but at least up here in the NW there are way more places that do them wrong than do them right. And Mohaman, I say take that chicken cutley though a little marinara, maybe some mots and a bit of basil, go for the Chicken Parm. But with Mayo, S&P, I'd only be missing the 'merican Cheese on that sucka'.

I'm lucky that way Effjay,Jersey has ALOT of places that make bangin' cubans. And agreed with the Parm, but upgrade the white bread to fresh italian bread and I'm there.

alittleoffhedy 05-05-2008 11:21 PM

there's the tiniest, crappiest-looking deli in paramus, NJ called "Chick's" and it's the best deli ever. seriously, anything from there is amazing. but i always get the buffalo chicken sandwich (chicken, lettuce, buffalo sauce on a roll.)

effjay 05-05-2008 11:22 PM

Yeah man, but sometimes that white bread when it gets soggy with the cheese and it's gooey. It's pretty awesome. And I missed that DAS said earlier Monte Cristos. Those things are great man, but I have mine with Strawberry preserves. Normally don't dig the meat and fruit thing, but it's like meaty french toast! Best thing ever.

Thomas 06-03-2008 04:35 PM

Pastrami and Swiss on Rye!! FTW?

holy crap I'd eat the shit out of that. But my personal favorite is just simple. Turkey and Roast beef on a Italian roll, with everything on it.

bobmystery 12-10-2008 03:19 PM

How about a traditional muffaletta? Thick sliced parma ham, genoa salami, swiss, and provolone all melted to a toasted muff loaf from Gambino's Bakery in New Orleans; topped (and bottomed) with a marinated olive salad of kalamata, nicoise, and green olive, celery, pimento, red onion, carrot, red wine vinegar, and olive oil. The last restaurant where I was executive chef sold about 30 of these a day.

The best part about working in restaurants is obviously all the free food.

SirLongFoot 12-10-2008 03:24 PM

Need I repost pics of the "Fool's Gold Loaf?" :D

dikfore63 12-10-2008 10:34 PM

Without a doubt my favorite is the Monte Cristo

The Monte Cristo is a sandwich made of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese on batter-dipped fried bread. It is usually dusted with powdered sugar and served with raspberry preserves for dipping.

Kyle E. Coyote 12-10-2008 10:58 PM

Swenson's Galley Boy.

MillyMc 12-11-2008 08:34 AM

Best fast food chain burger? BKs steakhouse burger with bacon, cheese, fried onion straw, bbq sauce and mashed potatoes. I get moist just thinking about out.

Dont think I saw anyone mention it, so I gotta throw some love out there to the cheesesteak. Quite possibly the most versatile and delicious sandwich on earth.

That's good - but you have to add a fried egg to *really* make it!

I also dig Cubans, Cheesesteaks, and when I'm in NY/NJ, a good Boars' Head Rare Roast beef on a roll with provolone and mayo...

Add pepperoni and dip in marinara. It will ROCK YOUR FUCKING WORLD!!!

Here are a couple more simple ones for you guys that I loved growing up:

1) Grilled Peanut Butter

WONT TASTE THE SAME IF NOT DONE IN THIS ORDER

-Put peanut butter on white bread
-THEN cram the whole thing into a bagel toaster

2) Grilled tuna

-Make tuna out of a few (drained) packets of sunflower-oiled StarKist tuna, some malt vinnegar, pepper, diced onions and Hellmans mayo.

-Either smear it on white bread with lettuce and eat, or put some mozzarella cheese on the bread and thow it in a frying pan until golden brown.

You can't garner enough love for the cheesesteak. It is funny to hear people from around the country talk about how they love cheesesteaks and they have the best place in their city then they come visit and you take them around the corner for the real deal and watch their eyes roll to the back of their heads with orgasmic ecstasy. And fuck Pat's, Geno's, Tony Luke's and that "wiz wit" shit...No matter what the national media wants you to believe, they are all bullshit and should never been eaten unless drunk and nothing else is open.

With that said I gotta say I'm envious of you guys from chicago cause you get ready access to vienna beef hot dogs, chicago style (though not technically a sandwich). Who would think a dog with all that shit on it would be so damned good.
